ABOUT CARTDECO
who are we?
CartDeco was established in 1990 and has been providing cartographic services for the publishing industry ever since. Started by Craig Molyneux, a cartographer and geo-visualiser with over 30 years in the industry, we design and deliver award-winning cartographic products using industry standard technologies. Some of our favourite tools are Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, Avenza MAPublisher and Geographic Imager, Natural Scene Designer, Esri ArcGIS, QGIS, PostGIS, Mapbox and Mapbox Studio, and GIS Cloud. We also use project management tools such as Atlassian’s Jira and Trello, plus data visualisation tools like Plotly, Flourish, Carto and many others.

Research
Craig completed his Master of Science in 2016, developing a multi-published workflow for student atlases. This built on his experience in the publishing industry working on editions 7 and 8 of the Jacaranda Atlas. The outcome of the research was a conceptual workflow for taking artwork from a hard-copy atlas and creating a specification for a digital atlas.
